Saltire Rare Malt, an independent Scotch whisky bottler based in Falkland, Fife, has released Cigar Malt Edition 2, a 15-year-old Inchgower single malt chosen by whisky experts Hans and Becky Offringa.
The whisky was matured in a first-fill ex-Oloroso sherry hogshead and is bottled at 48.8% ABV. There are 298 bottles, priced at £120 and sold online through the company’s website.
The Cigar Malt series launched with an 18-year-old single malt from the now-closed Speyside Distillers, which sold out. The bottler describes the new release as having notes of orange marmalade, cherry pipe tobacco, stewed red apples and ground cloves, and says it is designed to go with a cigar or be drunk on its own.
“The response to our first Cigar Malt was incredible, and we’re thrilled to build on that success with something equally special,” said Keith Rennie, co-founder of Saltire Rare Malt.
Rennie founded the company with Nigel Heywood, and its first bottlings came out in 2024. It is based in the market square opposite Falkland Palace. The company was named Best Newcomer at the Scottish Whisky Awards 2025 and Rising Star Brand at Taiwan’s Golden Whisky Awards 2026, and says it has a growing presence across Europe, Asia and North America.
