Dales Marine urges shipowners to book year-end maintenance slots
Dales Marine Services has called on shipowners to plan ahead as it flags remaining dry dock capacity at its Leith and Aberdeen facilities before the end of the year.
Dales Marine Services has called on shipowners across the UK to plan ahead when scheduling vessel maintenance before the end of the year, as demand for repair slots rises, the company said.
The specialist in dry docking, steelwork, maintenance, ship repair and mobilisation said it has remaining capacity at its Aberdeen and Leith facilities from October 2026 into the new year. According to the company, the Leith dry dock, which measures 165m x 21m with 300m of quayside alongside, has availability across Q4 2026 and Q1 2027, while Aberdeen’s dry dock measures 112m x 21m.
The company said shipowners and operators interested in scheduling vessel maintenance should contact Dales Marine Services directly to find out more.
Phil McFadyen, operations manager at Dales Marine Services’ Leith facility, said: “Maintenance and certification are critical to successful vessel operations, and we are encouraging shipowners to plan ahead over the coming months.”
He added: “We know that every vessel and schedule is different, and our facilities in Leith and Aberdeen have available capacity to support customers with full docking, routine maintenance or urgent repair works, ensuring that maintenance can be completed before the year is out. If you are considering booking maintenance time for a vessel, get in touch with us today and we will work with you to find the timing and solution that suits your operations.”
The company said weather delays and quieter periods give operators a window to complete essential work, noting that not every job needs a docking. Dales Marine Services said its skilled workforce can carry out afloat and quayside repairs from five major ports, including engine and machinery overhauls, propulsion work, steelwork, pipework, testing, inspections and lay-up support.
Alongside capacity at its Leith and Aberdeen dry dock facilities, the company said its skilled workforce can also be deployed along the east coast of Scotland and across England to complete works wherever a vessel is berthed.
Dales Marine Services said it was founded in 1987 and operates dry dock and fabrication facilities in Aberdeen, Leith, Greenock and Troon. The company said it supports more than 100 vessels in dry dock each year, carries out over 150 project mobilisations and demobilisations, and completes more than 500 afloat repairs across the UK and Europe annually.
