Law firm Gillespie Macandrew has named three senior appointments, taking its partnership to a record 30 as the firm said it surpassed £20 million turnover for the first time.

Gillespie Macandrew has announced three senior appointments, with Chris Devlin joining as Partner in Planning, Douglas Roberts joining as Partner in Corporate, and Nikki Robertson appointed Head of Finance, the firm said.

The appointments take the firm’s partnership to a record 30 partners and come as Gillespie Macandrew said it surpassed £20 million turnover for the first time.

Chris Devlin, an accredited specialist in Planning and Environmental Law, has joined the firm’s specialist Planning team, which the firm said further strengthens its commercial practice. The firm said he brings extensive experience advising on complex development, infrastructure, housing, renewables and public sector projects across Scotland.

Douglas Roberts, who the firm said is recognised as one of Scotland’s leading solicitors in employee ownership, advises employee-owned businesses on reorganisations, acquisitions and disposals, and also draws on his corporate law experience to support clients on mergers and acquisitions, equity investments and strategic advisory matters, the firm said.

Nikki Robertson, a CIMA-qualified finance leader, has joined the firm’s Senior Management Team as Head of Finance, bringing expertise in financial planning and analysis, business partnering, governance, regulatory processes and Board-level reporting, the firm said. The firm said she combines strong financial discipline and control with a practical, collaborative approach to supporting sustainable growth.

Gillespie Macandrew said this result demonstrates the progress of its long-term strategy built around client experience, people, technology and its four core sectors.

Chief Executive Officer Gavin Merchant said: “Alongside these strategic senior hires, Gillespie Macandrew has continued to build strength from within, recently retaining eight trainees as newly qualified solicitors across our specialisms. By nurturing talent, strengthening leadership capability and maintaining a commitment to social impact within our communities, the firm continues to position itself well to support the evolving needs of clients and deliver the high standards of service that define our firm.”
